Writing

With a background in Creative Writing, I enjoy bringing a storytelling perspective to every project. While fiction is my specialty, I believe every project, no matter how entangled with writing, benefits from a compelling narrative.

Screenwriting

In college, I adapted the novel Turtles All the Way Down by John Green into a screenplay—it was my first time using Final Draft, explicitly writing for film. What started as a class project quickly revealed a natural instinct: when I write fiction, I see it unfold like a movie. This course opened a new door in which visual storytelling and language met—a perfect cocktail of my strengths and gravitation to visual work as well as my love for narrative.

Short Story Capstone

For my senior capstone, I wrote a collection of three short stories entitled "My Blood Draws Ink.” They followed young queer women whose lives rigidly twisted around love, identity, and expression. This project brought together everything I love about storytelling: voice, vulnerability and narrative built through character dynamics that represent the connections that sustain us.

Songwriting

Music is integral to my personhood, but I didn't consider songwriting until after high school —thanks in part to the extra free time I had during the pandemic and my new found love of a certain blonde superstar. After digging out my dad's old guitar, I taught myself a few chords off YouTube, and quickly fell in love with the way songwriting melded emotion and craft. It became my favorite form of poetic expression: cathartic, creative, and captivating.

Most of my work lives in hidden notebooks, but you can read the lyrics to one of my favorite compositions here.

Copywriting

While working at MEUS in my hometown, I tried my hand at product copywriting. It felt like crafting a tiny story for each carefully curated product—what a pleasure it was bringing each little narrative to life!

Interviews

I also completed two interview projects while working at MEUS. Find them on the Design & Media page here.

Nimbus Literary Magazine

At Bryn Mawr, I spent two years on the executive board of Nimbus Literary and Arts Magazine. As co-editor my junior year, I helped bring two print issues to life—collaborating with a talented team to curate, design, and publish work that celebrated student creativity.

A woman lies on her stomach on a bed, curled up with her head turned to the side, arms extended, and dark hair spread out. She is wearing a light-colored top and dark shorts, and is partially covered by a white sheet. There is a bouquet of dried flowers on the bed and a headboard behind her.

Medium

During COVID lockdown, I stumbled upon Medium and frequently engaged with it's punchy fiction. I published a few pieces, but nothing substantial. It wasn't until my junior year — after writing a mental health essay for a memoirs on disability course — that I returned to the platform. I polished up the essay and considered sending it out. What started as a cathartic class project turned into the first time I shared something that raw and personal with the world.

Published in Human Parts, you can find the full piece here.
